Prunus domestica the European plum is a species of flowering plant in the family Rosaceae. A deciduous tree, it includes many varieties of the fruit trees known as plums in English, though not all plums belong to this species.
Its fruits are dark blue, oblong or spherical in shape, covered with a thin zipper and contain a bone that is usually bitter. They are consumed both fresh and dried, as well as processed - marmalades, jams, liqueurs.
Plums are highly valued because they are rich in organic acids, pectin, tannins, mineral salts and vitamins, and in addition to their taste, they have a healing effect.
