PRODUCT INFORMATION
Paracetamol relieves pain and lowers temperature. It has a stronger effect on the central nervous system and less on the peripheral. This explains the weaker anti-inflammatory action compared to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Contraindications:
Do not take paracetamol if you are allergic to it or any of the excipients in the product. Do not take paracetamol if you have severe liver or kidney disease. The product contains lactose as an excipient and is not suitable for people with lactose intolerance. Not to be taken by children under 6 years of age.
Taking other medicines:
You should not combine taking paracetamol with other medicines containing this substance. This may lead to excess of the recommended daily dose. Do not take paracetamol with medicines to treat tuberculosis (rifampicin), medicines to treat bacterial infections (chloramphenicol) or medicines to treat epileptic seizures (barbiturates, antiepileptics). Paracetamol may enhance the action of blood clotting drugs. Cholestyramine, antacid drugs and the presence of food in the stomach may reduce the absorption of paracetamol. Metoclopramine and domperidone increase the absorption of paracetamol and its action. Concomitant administration of medicines such as phenytoin, carbamazepine and Phenobarbital with paracetamol may increase the likelihood of hepatotoxic effects. Concomitant administration of anti-tuberculosis drugs with paracetamol can cause severe liver damage.
Food, drink and alcohol intake:
During treatment with paracetamol, the intake of alcoholic beverages should be avoided, because there is a risk of increasing the toxic effect on the liver.
Pregnancy and lactation:
If you are pregnant, think you are pregnant or breast-feeding you should consult a doctor before taking paracetamol. It is possible to use it, but with the lowest dose to reduce pain or fever.
Driving and using machines:
Paracetamol does not cause lethargy or dizziness and can be used when driving or using machines.
Method of use:
For oral use. Paracetamol should be taken with water.
Adults and children over 12 years: 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours, but no more than 6 tablets per day.
Children from 6 to 12 years of age: 1/2 tablet in 4-6 hours, but not more than 4 tablets in 24 hours.
Treatment with paracetamol should not exceed 5 days for adults and 3 days for children. If after this period the symptoms have not subsided, you should see a doctor.
Overdose and dose omission:
If you take more than the recommended dose, contact a doctor immediately. Overdose may cause liver damage and severe liver failure.
If you forget to take a dose, take it in time for the next dose by skipping the forgotten one. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Possible side effects:
If any side effects occur, even those not described, discontinue paracetamol treatment immediately and consult a doctor. When taken in the recommended doses, side effects are rare. Nausea and hypersensitivity reactions, skin rashes, itching and hives may occur.
