The herb is also called roshawina or herbaceous herb. The Latin name is Herba Betonica Officinalis.
Description: Perennial herbaceous plant, stem with downward-looking firm hairs, high up to 60 cm, leaves opposite, flowers purple red, dried fruit, made of 4 walnuts. Blooms June - September.
Chemical composition: Tartar and bitter substances, betaine - betonin and turinine, choline, little essential oil, saponins, resinous substances, significant amounts of mineral salts, organic acids and carotene.
Application: internal - for gastrointestinal colic, diarrhea, headache, nervous tension, fearful neuro-neurosis, neuralgia, dizziness, epilepsy. It is also used for inflammation of the respiratory tract, inflammation of the kidneys and urinary tract. The herb possesses a regenerative, spasmolytic, appetite exciting and sedative action. Externally: in wounds, ulcers, sore throat, inflammation of the oral cavity, rheumatism.
Preparation: 1 soup. Spoon the herb with 1/2 l of boiling water and boil for 5 minutes.
Use: internally - 150 ml 3 times daily before meals. Outside: in the form of paws.
