The herb is also called a nettle or home nettle.
Perennial, high to 1.5 m herbaceous plant, with a 4-rosette, often violet-red hollow stem, covered with hairs. The leaves are opposite, with handles, palmally cut, the lower ones are serrated, and the upper 3-sided, above darker, below the light green. The flowers are bright red, located several in the bosom of the upper leaves, and are small and mossy. The cup is trumpet-bell, with 5 prickly teeth. The wreath is trumpet, inside with hairs. Blooms in summer until autumn.
Chemical composition: Alkalide monterine and stahydrine, tannins, flavonoids (routine), quinquelozide, bitter alkaloid leonurin, saponins, bitter substances, fruit acids, vitamin C. The ash residue contains potassium, calcium, sodium and sulfur.
Application: Intrinsically: for nerve diseases, palpitations, hypertension, chest tooth, headache, mental fatigue, goiter, epilepsy. Regulates cardiac activity, menstruation, expands blood vessels, and acts urinally. It lowers blood pressure, slows down heart rate, suppresses convulsions.
Preparation: 1-2 teaspoons of herbs are soaked for 10 minutes in 250 ml of boiling water.
Use: Inner infusion 2 cups per day.
Note: Consult a doctor before use. Drowsiness, frequent urination, slow heartbeat, hypotension are observed in overdose.
